Biography

Thurza Theda Thomas was born to Calvin Henry and Sophia Paulina Nickum Thomas on July 9, 1884 in Greeley, Colorado. She graduated from the University of Northern Colorado, B.A., 1911; and the University of Colorado, M.A. She taught and was principal at the Wyatt School, Ault, Colorado for many years. She also taught summer school in Routt County, Colorado for a while. Thurza was a member of Delta Gamma Sorority, Union Colony Pioneer Society, Woman's Panhellenic Association of Greeley, and attended the First Congregational Church. She died on September 3, 1963. Scope and Contents

Books along with other items were given to the library by Sarah Thomas, widow of Dan Thomas, c 1971, when the Thomas home near Ault was sold. William Southard of Greeley was the attorney. Correspondence about the gift is in the Archives office file.The file also contains a list of the books, most of which have not been cataloged. A list of the books is available upon request. This collection also contains over 700 etchings and watercolors by Myra Laura Thomas.
