Scope and Contents

From the Collection:

This collection consists of James A. Michener's personal papers relating to the research and writing of Alaska, The Eagle and the Raven, Journey, Mexico, Pilgrimage, Poland, Space, The World is My Home and other publications as well as two folders on Bora Bora. It also includes activities he participated in during this time period, such as NASA, UNESCO, and Radio Free Europe. The collection also includes correspondence, fan mail, and other miscellaneous items. Materials relating to Poland were separated from this collection for ease of use.

Processing Information

This collection is only partially processed. Richard Gibboney created a draft finding aid for this collection in 2003. The draft finding aid was in the form of a Microsoft Access database. Shirley Soenksen extracted information from the database on 2007 March 10 and revised the finding aid on 2008 November 19
