Biography

Owen Laster was born on August 30, 1938, in Weehawken, N.J. After earning a bachelor's degree from Syracuse University in 1960, he went to work in the mailroom of the William Morris Agency. He moved to the publicity department and eventually became the head of the literary department. Among the many accomplished authors whose careers Laster shepherded was that of James A. Michener. Later in his career, Laster served as Executive Vice-President of the Talent and Literary Agency of the William Morris Agency, Inc. He retired in 2006, and passed away in March 2011.
