Biography
Born in Liverpool, England in 1851. Painted over one thousand portraits of notables including presidents Wilson, T. Roosevelt and McKinley. After her marriage to William D. Murphy signed her paintings "W.D. Murphy." Often based her paintings on her husband's photograph of the subject. Studied in New York City and with Lawrence in Munich.
