Biography

Sculptor and illustrator born in 1876 in Mauch Chunk, Pennsylvania. Created a variety of items in colored plaster as well as bronze including fountains, decorative panels, statuettes, medals, portraits and animals. Worked as a staff artist for the American Museum of Natural History beginning in 1901 and as an illustrator for scientific publications. Studied at Cooper Union with G.T. Brewster and at the New York Art Students League with James Earle Frasier. Mentors in Paris included Bourdelle and Bartlett. Married Charles Burr Sterling in 1897.
