Biography

Esther Lotz was born to Rev. C. J. and Carolyn (Reifschneider) Lotz in Kline, Iowa on January 18, 1898. She attended schools in Illinois and Missouri and came to Colorado in 1921. She received a bachelor's degree from Colorado State College of Education (now the University of Northern Colorado) in 1943 and a life teaching certificate. Esther Lotz served as secretary for the physical education department at the University until she retired in 1963. Esther Lotz was a charter member of the Business and Professional Women's Club (BPW), a member of the Greeley Poetry Club and Women's Society of Christian Service, as well as an American Red Cross volunteer. In addition, she served as church historian and librarian, was a member of the Wesleyan Service Guild, member of the First United Methodist Church, chair of the committee that compiled a church history, and church school superintendent. Esther Lotz passed away on July 26, 1987 in Greeley, Colorado.
