Biography
Mabel Landrum Torrey graduated from the Colorado State Normal School (now the University of Northern Colorado) in 1907. She sculpted a bust of "Zachariah X.Snyder, President 1891-1915" following his death. The bust was a gift from the Class of 1915 and was originally located in Cranford Hall (demolished in 1972) and currently is located at the James A. Michener Library, First Floor, Reference Department. Mabel Landrum and her husband Fred M. Torrey sculpted a bust of "Albert F. Carter, Librarian 1901-1933." Bust of Albert F. Carter, Librarian 1901-1933 created by Fred M. and Mabel L. Torrey dated 1940. Mrs. Albert F. Carter presented the sculpture to the university where it was placed in the "new college library" (now Carter Hall) and is currently located at the James A. Michener Library, First Floor, Reference Department.
