Biography
Donald Reese Wilkinson was born on August 31, 1929 to Mr. and Mrs. Lacy L. Wilkinson. He graduated from College High School, attended Colorado State University, and received a B.A. in Industrial Arts from Colorado State College of Education in 1951. While at at the college he served as sports editor for the 1951 Cache La Poudre yearbook. He also belonged to Phi Delta Pi, an educational fraternity. After graduation, he taught industrial arts in Portland, Oregon. Don Wilkinson married Frances Logsden in Las Animas in 1951. They had two children: Lacy Lou and Henry. He was an Eagle Scout and attended the World Scout Jamboree in Paris in 1947. Don Wilkinson served in the U.S. Naval Air Reserve. He was a proprietor of Acme-Wilkinson Printery, Inc. in Greeley, Colorado. As a freelance photographer he took photographs at the Munich, Tokyo and Mexico Olympics. His photographs appeared in several sports publications. He was active in the First Congregational Church, Boy Scouts, Kiwanis Club, Elks Club Chorus, Masons, and Typographical Union No. 586. He passed away on June 21, 1975.
