Biography
Barrett William (Bill) Van Loo was born on October 23, 1937 in Lansing Michigan. He received his bachelor´s degree in 1962 and his Master´s degree 1973 from San Diego State University (SDSU). It was while attending SDSU, when Van Loo met Sarah Abdelnour; they were married in 1962. Van Loo worked as a scenic artist and designer for five years at San Diego State University and an additional ten years as a free-lance scenic artist/designer for various stage, film and television companies in Southern California and in Las Vegas, Nevada. Van Loo arrived at the University of Northern Colorado in the fall of 1973, replacing Welby Wolfe. During his tenure at UNC, Van Loo was responsible for over 100 productions; more than 25 of which were in musical theater. He thoroughly enjoyed the challenges of designing for opera and musical theater; he found inspiration for his designs while listening to the production´s music.

William Van Loo was an associate professor of Thertra Arts, College of Performing and Visual Arts, at the University of Northern Coloraod and the Designer/Technical Director for the Little Theater of the Rockies from 1973 and 1992. The collection includes his tecnhical drawings, teachings materials, biographical materials, and collection of programs.
