Biography

Born in 1907 in Edmore, Michigan; attended Central Michigan University 1925-26; received his BA from the University of Michigan 1929 and his MA from the same institution in 1932; additional coursework at the University of Chicago and Columbia University. He served in the US Navy 1942-1946. He was a teacher in Michigan secondary schools 1925-1927 and 1929-1931. He was a college instructor in various institutions 1937-1942. From 1946 to 1954 he was a specialist for elementary science in the Office of Education of the Department of Health, Education and Welfare. He was a teacher at the University of Maryland, College Park 1956 until his retirement. Throughout his career, he was an author of books for young people and textbooks. He died in 1995.
