Biography

William S. Garnsey served as a State Senator (Rep.) in the Colorado General Assembly from 1966 to 1975.  While in the Senate, he sponsored Senate Bill 13 which changed the name of Colorado State College to the University of Northern Colorado (approved April 14, 1970; effective May 1, 1970). The University of Northern Colorado bestowed a Doctor of Humane Letters on William S. Garnsey on May 11, 1996. See: William S. Garnsey Legislative Papers (SC 99).

Abstract

This collection consists of materials, primarily government publications, collected by William Garnsey while he was Senator in the Colorado General Assembly.



Arrangement

The materials in Box 8 were transferred to the Government Publications Department. Papers on name change from Colorado State College to the University of Northern Colorado received from Sen. Garnsey were transferred to RG2 S6 F7.
