Arnold Annex #1, #2, #3, 1946-
Scope and Contents
Prefabricated "temporary-type" housing units built in 1946. They were of the "barracks type rather than Quonset huts" and meant to be used as "temporary family dwellings." They were named for General Henry Harley "Hap" Arnold (1886-1950), first General of the United States Air Force. Annex #1 was used as "a storage facility and carpet shop" in 1980. Annex 2 and Annex 3 were converted to AFROTC facilties and converted later into use as the Children's Village Pre-School. see also -- Jackson Barracks Housing Source: "Ninety-eight New Houses to be Built for Vets," Mirror, May 3, 1946, p. 1.
