Scope and Contents

The Beverly House, located at 1925 10th Avenue was built around 1907 and purchased by the University in 1965. It served as home to several University offices, including a Pre-School, Health Physical and Recreation, Department of Aerospace Studies (AFRTOC), International Student Services, and the Marcus Garvey Cultural Center. The General Assistance Center (GAC) also located in the Beverly House was "run by UNC and funded by the Department of Health, Education and Welfare to aid school and communities in crosscultural awareness." The center was in existance from July 1, 1973-June 30, 1975. The Anthropology Department was located at 1925 1/2 10th Avenue (1973). The Beverly House was demolished in 1995.
