The current [url=http://www.unco.edu/uncmap/buildings/buildings.asp?ID=46]Garden Theatre[/url], "an open modern pavillon" dedicated in 1940, was the venue for numerous spring graduation ceremonies and was the home of the 'Concert Under the Stars' series that ran from 1931-2002. A remembrance concert was held in July 2004. The concerts were reinstated in 2006. The original Garden Theatre was located in the same location with "its backdrop and wings being shubbery." College groups often performed Shakesperian comedies according to Frances Tobey, Class of 1917 and a longtime faculty member.
