Snyder Hall, 1936-
Scope and Contents
Snyder Hall was built in 1936 as a Federal Public Works Project, as were Sabin and Tobey Kendel Halls. Snyder was named for President Snyder's wife, Margaret. Originally there was a lily pond in front of Snyder; it was removed in 1955 after vandals attacked it. Over the years, the porch has been both white and brown. A bomb exploded in Snyder Hall on Saturday, March 30, 1974. The tradition of the Senior Ceremonial was held in front of Snyder Hall with a circle formed around the lily pond. This circle was known as the Bi-Tri Circle. The Senior Ceremonial took place from 1938 to at least the 1960s.
