Villa, The
Scope and Contents
Troxel (1960), Hadden (1931), Cross (1947), and Hays (1931) Halls, originally men's doremintories, were located on the East Campus north across the street from the baseball field at Jackson Field. The dormitories became unpopular due to the University's expansion onto the West Campus and to declining enrollment. The dormitories were closed in 1982 and leased to The Villa in 1984 and were remodeled to house 180 senior citizens (Hays, Hadden and Troxel Halls), and a home for non-violent, minimum-risk offenders (Cross Hall). They were sold to The Villa in September 1993 as they "were not adequate for the university's housing needs and did not fit in with the university's master facility plan for future developments." They were later sold to other corporations and demolished in 2011. see also -- Cross Hall see also -- Hadden Hall see also -- Hays Hall see also -- Troxel Hall see also -- East Campus see also -- Residence Halls
