[Oil painting?]. Brown wood frame. 23 1/4"x27 1/2"x2 3/4". Grace M. Baker served as Head of the Art Department at the University of Northern Colorado, 1913-1918; Head of Division of Arts, Fine Arts, Home Arts, and Industrial Arts, 1933-1941. She retired in 1942 as Professor of Art Emeritus. She was born near Kewanee, Illinois on October 18, 1876 and passed away in September 1968 at the age of 91. She graduated from Geneseo Collegiate Institute, 1895; Illinois State Normal School, 1898; Chicago Art Institute, 1925; Teachers College, Columbia University, B.A., 1924 & M.A., 1928. She taught in Illinois, Chicago Art Institue, Oklahoma State Normal School, and Wisconsin State Normal School prior to coming to the University of Northern Colorado. Custodial History
Acquisition #11.13 was transferred from the Visitor's Center on June 27, 2011. Custodial History: When Chris came to the Visitors Center six years ago, the self-portrait of Richard Ellinger was hanging on a wall (it was subsequently taken down and put in storage) and the other two paintings were already in storage. He gave me the emails of the previous two department heads, and I've written them for any information they may have on the paintings. Physical Condition: The painting by Robert Wood has some cracking of the paint; the self-portrait by Richard Ellinger has cracking and scuff marks; the landscape by Richard Ellinger is in good condition with a very few small scuff marks.
