JM. James A. Michener Papers and Special Collections
Created in 1978 after James A. Michener donated thirty-seven linear feet of his papers, relating primarily to his novel Centennial. Shortly before his death in 1997 Michener designated the University of Northern Colorado the home of the bulk of his writing and publishing legacy. The James A. Michener Papers and Special Collection contains a variety of material relating to the James A. Michener's life and work.

Scope and Contents This collection consists of furniture and furnishing given to the James A. Michener Library by James A. Michener. The collection includes items that would be found in an office, such as a lamp, desk, typewriter, typewriter table, chairs, tables, and other items. These items were originally found in Room 113 on the first floor of the library and currently are housed in the Archival Services Department of the library.
