Collection Scope and Contents

Carl and Gloria Maag owned and operated the Dearfield service station and store sometime after the prime of Dearfield, the specific dates are unknown. This collection was donated by the Maag family in 2010. The collection on Dearfield contains; multiple copies of a poster and letter promoting Dearfield, a book of blank Dearfield purchase contracts, checkbook binder with stubs of checks, checks of purchases made by O.T. Jackson, receipts, photograph of O. T. Jackson, letter draft by O.T. Jackson writing to sell Dearfield, correspondence to Miss J. Jackson dated 1950s, one publication, newspaper articles about a murder, and the town of Dearfield, and Colorado specific materials such as a rainfall map and the Colorado Bar Association report for 1923.

This collection is arranged in 6 series; finacnial records, Dearfield promotional material, correspondence, memorabilia, Colorado material, articles. Each series attempts to follow a chronological order where dates are given.

Source of Acquisition

Carl "Bill" Maag, son of Carl and Gloria Maag, donated the collection in 2010.

Processing Information

This collection was re-appraised with a new arrangement of 6 series. A letter draft was found on the back of a financial account by O.T. Jackson writing to the governor trying to sell Dearfield, in box 1 series 1 folder 2.
