Collection Scope and Contents
This collection consists of physical materials relating to the granting of degrees at the University of Northern Colorado and its previous names. They reflect not only the written documentation of graduation, but also the ceremonies at which these diplomas were granted. Included in the collection are framed and unframed diplomas, academic banners, robes, graduation caps, and hoods.

Organizational History
President Zachariah Zenophon Snyder's inauguration robe and hat: caps, gowns and hoods worn by Dr. Snyder, President of the University of Northern Colorado from 1891 to 1915.
The purple satin stole with the words "Faculty Marshal" printed in gold: The stole was worn during commencement ceremonies at the University of Northern Colorado.
The Centennial Graduation Banners used at the 1990 Centennial Graduation in May 1990 were created by Lydia Ruyle and Ruth Savig for the College of Performing and Visual Arts (PVA), College of Education, The Graduate School, College of Business Administration, College of Health and Human Services, and the College of Arts and Sciences. The banners were used at official University of Northern Colorado ceremonies such as Convocation and Commencement. An article about the Centennial Graduation Banners appeared on pages 24 and 25 of the March 1990 issue of Spectrum (RG3 S12 F9).

Abstract
This collection contains diplomas, certificates, and regalia from university alumni. This includes items from the University of Northern Colorado and its previous names, as well as items from other institutions.
Arrangement
This collection is arranged in five subseries: framed diplomas, unframed diplomas, non-UNC diplomas and certificates, academic regalia, and UNC processional banners.
Acquisition Information
These diplomas have been received from several individuals.
Ruby Bell's diploma was acquired in 1978.
Rodger I. Houtchens, a lawyer in the firm Houtchens, Houtchens and Daniel of Greeley, CO, donated the Luna Isabel Smith diplomas on 29 November 1983.
Denise O'Grady donated Ruth Barry's diploma in July 1997.
Silk purple graduation hood was acquired from Carol Ann Carley in 2000.
Nellie Leckington's diplomas and certificates were donated in 2008.
Academic banners were transferred to Archives by Vikki Niccum of the Board of Trustees Office in 2012.
Henry Allen and Rose Allen's diplomas and certificates were donated in 2016.
Acquisition information for the rest of the collection is unknown.
