Collection Scope and Contents.
This collection contains materials related to the University of Northern Colorado's Commission for Women. Materials include meeting minutes, committee memos, program and event promotions, expense accounts, grant applications, and correspondence of participants. The Commission for Women functioned as an advisory board to the university president, as well as serving as an advocacy group for faculty, staff, and students. Five task forces were originally established within the commission, and included Assessment/Research/Grants, Sexual Harassment, Women's Resource Center, Support Networks, and Equity in Hiring, Salaries, Promotion.

Organizational History
The University of Northern Colorado's Commission for Women was founded in 1991 and existed until the early 2000s. Its mission was to promote a strong supportive community among women at UNC, a safe environment for learning and working, and equity for women in employment and education at UNC. It worked towards these goals through task forces, programs, and co-sponsoring of professional development for women. Co-chairs included Nancy Scott, Judy Jones, Julie Konzak, Maria Lopez, Priscilla Kimboko, Diana Vasquez, Paleri Mann, and Pat Graham. Selected accomplishements included the adoption of a Sexual Harassment Policy following a campus-wide survey; the development of a Report on the Status of Women at UNC, which examined equity in hiring, promotion, and salaries; and developing a plan and obtaining funding for the Women's Resource Center (which in 2018 became the Center for Women's and Gender Equity).
