Collection Scope and Contents

The School of Industrial Technology and Home Economics operated from the early days of the university until its elimination in 1983. Under the leadership of Dean William R. Erwin Jr., the school offered training for future educators, economists, and industry workers. The Industrial Arts and Home Economics records collection includes self-study reports, course listings, minority student and faculty recruitment policies, coorperative reports with other Industrial Arts programs across the United States, educational film, and photographs of doctoral program graduates. Additionally, collection contains clippings, correspondence, faculty lists, and deparment reports documenting the school's final defense against budget cuts and elimination in 1982 and 1983.
