Created in 1954, the National Council for the Accreditation of Teacher Education is an organization of colleges and universities, state departments of education, school boards, and teacher and professional groups. Its purpose is to evaluate and accredit institutions involved in the preparation of elementary and secondary school teachers and administrative personnel.
