Scope and Contents The first library on campus was in the Normal School Building (Cranford Hall). Carter Hall, originally the universitiy's first stand alone library, was completed in 1907. It emulated Thomas Jefferson's Monticello. A bronze statute of a Minute Man on a "hue boulder" (1914 Class Gift) and a reflecting pool (1911 Class Gift) were located on the esplanade in front of the library.
