Miller, Lydia Alles

Biography

Lydia Alles Miller was born February 1, 1908 to Adam Peter and Mary Elizabeth (Doell) Alles in Lincoln, Nebraska. She grew up on the family farm located in the Alles Acres subdivision of Greeley, Colorado. She attended school in Greeley and received a bachelor's degree in foreign languages from Colorado State Teachers College (now the University of Northern Colorado) in 1929. She taught language classes in Grover and Grande, Arizona; Greeley Central High School; College High School; and the University of Northern Colorado. Lydia Miller "helped organize the Greeley League of Women Voters and the Girl Scouts." She was also a member of the American Association of University Women and Delta Kappa Gamma. Active in the Weld County Democratic Party and the Jane Jeffersons, Lydia Miller ran for the Colorado House of Representatives in 1942. Lydia Alles Miller passed away on April 23, 1992.
