Acquisition #09.11. A gift of Dr. David L. Pringle, Professor of Chemistry, School of Chemistry and Biochemistry in May 2009. Documentation relating to the acquisition is on file in Archives, RG 13 S1 F1. Scope and Content Note: This collection consists of a dedication program, a bulletin, photographs, and clippings of Ross Hall of Science as well as a chemistry thesis. Most of these items had been given to the Chemistry Department by Lavonne Beel in honor of her husband, Dr. John A. Beel, who taught chemistry at the University of Northern Colorado for fifty years. Several of the 10â€�x8â€� black/white photographs were taken by Bob Waters, a longtime photographer at the University. Oversize photographs were taken by Dan Martin of the Greeley Shutterbugs and Bill Popejoy, retired mathematics professor at the University. Historical Note: The original Ross Hall of Science building and lecture complex was completed in 1964 to provide facilities for science and mathematics departments at a cost of $2,425,000. The lecture rooms were housed in a pie-shaped building with a geodesic dome adjacent to four-story main building. A new wing replaced the lecture complex in 2002. Renovation of Ross Hall was completed in 2003, providing “classrooms, offices, laboratories and research facilitiesâ€� for the sciences as well as English and History.
