Butler-Hancock Hall, 1974-
Scope and Contents
Butler-Hancock Hall was "erected and occupied in 1972" and replaced the aging Gunter Hall, located on the University's East Campus. An olympic-sized swimming pool was added in 1974. The building was dedicated on Febrary 4, 1975. Butler-Hancock Hall was renamed the Butler-Hancock Sports Pavilion during 2004-2005. The building is named for Lonis C. "Pete" Butler and John W. Hancock, Jr. , both of whom were inducted into the [url=http://www.uncbears.com/information/halloffame/1994Class]University's Sports Hall of Fame[/url] and the [url=http://www.coloradosports.org/]Colorado Sports Hall of Fame[/url].
