Carbon of #8 of Michener's revisions
Scope and Contents
"The carbon copy of #8. This is the version on which I do a good deal of my revision. It was also read, in this instance, by numerous experts, by Kings and Dalton and Laird and by anyone whose opinion we consulted. Sometimes the entire chapter was sent out, sometimes only a few pages, and sometimes a xerox of the original. But on this version everyone away from the Random House office did a great deal of work. It is probably possible to decipher whose handwriting exists on which pages. None was submitted to Erskine, however, without my having vetted it and usually recasting the corrections into my own words. When I was finished with such work, I airmailed the whole chapter with all corrections to Erskine, to be incorporated into the final version of the manuscript."
