 File — Box: 058, Folder: 12
Identifier: Series 2

Series Scope and Contents

From the Series:

This series contains historical information about the Little Theatre of the Rockies (LTR) presented through correspondence, documentation of events, newspaper clippings, and written organizational histories. Several anniversaries of the theater company are documented here by materials such as the “Diamond Jubilee Scrapbook” published for the 75th anniversary in 2009. Papers regarding the 50th Year LTR Reunion feature the speech given by Welby Wolfe at the event as well as handwritten notes from early members of LTR including Helen Langworthy. The Cranford Hall fire which destroyed the Little Theatre in 1949 is detailed in newspaper accounts, and the opening of Frasier Hall in 1954 is reflected through letters and telegrams congratulating Langworthy on the opening of the new theater in Frasier Hall. Additionally, there is statistical information on LTR along with lists of the shows that have been performed since its inception in 1934. A typed manuscript of “A Brief History of the Little Theatre of the Rockies” by Langworthy and a photocopy of George Bogusch’s 1960 thesis entitled The Little Theatre of the Rockies; 1934-1960: a Pattern for Educational Theatre are found in this series as well. Drama Workshop programs (1959-1968) document workshops offered to high school students to introduce them to various aspects of stagecraft including costume construction, make-up techniques, and scene painting.
