Biographical / Historical

CARL, or the Colorado Alliance of Research Libraries was founded in 1974 by Ward Shaw. In 1982, the non-profit organization began to develop a computer based catalog syste, the integrated library system (ILS). The system and the CARL name was sold in 1995, and the organization legally became "The Alliance."
