Reception Room in Club House, circa 1927-1929

RG021_05_04_0012. One postcard; 5.5 in.x3.5 in.; b/w One of eight black and white postcards showing campus views of Colorado State Teachers College. This photograph shows the reception room in the Women's Club House, which was built in 1916 and remodeled in the 1930s and 1940s. Although only women were originally allowed to use the club house, men were soon granted equal use of the facility. The Womenââ¬â¢s Club House, built in 1916, was remodeled in the 1930s and 1940s and renamed the Student Union in 1939. The Student Union was renamed Gray Hall in 1965 in honor of Thomas J. Gray, the University's first president from 1890-1891. Gray Hall currenlty houses the UNC Police Department, Parking Services and Telephone Services. Norton Theatre, the "Smallest Theater of the Rockies", other practice rooms and a multi-purpose gym are located in the west end of the building. Norton Theatre is named for Lloyd Norton, Emeritus Faculty in the University's School of Theatre Arts and Dance. This postcard was transferred from SC82, Box 1, Folder 9.
