Organizational History
The Graduate Council is comprised of Graduate Faculty members proportionately representing the number of Graduate faculty members in the respective schools, the Dean, Assistant Dean (ex officio) and a graduate student member if deemed advisable. Functions of the Graduate Council are to: a. Recommend to the Faculty Senate suitable policies and standards governing graduate instruction and research. b. Review and consider for approval the eligibility of disciplines to grant advance degrees. c. Consider, when necessary, individual cases of students whose unique problems may not be covered by existing policy or may require exceptions to established policy. d. Report to the Faculty Senate in written summary form its major policy actions at least each year.
