Scope and Contents

Books along with other items were given to the library by Sarah Thomas, widow of Dan Thomas, c 1971, when the Thomas home near Ault was sold. William Southard of Greeley was the attorney. Correspondence about the gift is in the Archives office file.The file also contains a list of the books, most of which have not been cataloged. A list of the books is available upon request. This collection also contains over 700 etchings and watercolors by Myra Laura Thomas.

Arrangement

This collection is organized into the following series: Series 1: Diaries, Scrapbooks, and Correspondence – This series includes diaries, scrapbooks, correspondence, and clippings. Series 2: Etchings and Art – This series includes etchings and art, primarily by Myra Laura Thomas although most artwork is untitled and signed by Myra Thomas. Series 3: Postcards – This series includes postcards collected by the Thomas Family on their many travels overseas and in the United States. Series 4: Photographs and Negatives – This series includes photographs and negatives of some of Myra Thomas artwork and one black and white photograph of her by William Louis Koehne of Chicago. Series 5: Myra Thomas Materials – This series includes Series 6: Published Materials – This series includes periodicals, monographs, brochures, and other published materials. Series 7: Other – This series includes all other materials not included in Series 1-6.
