Collection Scope and Contents
The UNC Black Student Union was founded in 1968 under the name Afro-American Student Union (when UNC was Colorado State College). This collection contains materials documenting the activities of the Black Student Union. Materials include the original consitution and philosophy and goals from 1968 for the creation of the Afro-American Student Union, an essay by Brenda Bruce titled, "Black Power" (1968), the "Report of the Committee on Black Student Concerns" (1984), and photocopied newspaper clippings about the organization from "The Mirror."
