Sample pages of typesetting
Scope and Contents
"Sample pages based on various selected passages from the manuscript. It is hoped that if every possible kind of type-setting problem is represented in these sample pages, then the setting of the manuscript into type will become fairly simple. This time the selectors did a great job, and we found almost no unsolved problems when we came to marking the manuscript for the printer. It is interesting, however, that whereas I was most meticulous in preparing the manuscript and even more careful in explaining to others that invariably after a small-type insert I wanted the next line of text to start flush left, I was unable to enforce this rule, and in the final type-set galleys there were numberless instances in which this simple rule was ignored. It had to be corrected at considerable expense to me."
