Lewis T. Brownell (1833-1914) served as the Normal School Librarian from June 18, 1895 to January 31, 1896.
He was born in Providence, Rhode Island. When twelve years old, he took a job with a large clothing firm as a packer and advanced to become a "foreign buyer" for the company.

Joseph Francis Daniels (1865-1921) served as Librarian at the State Normal School of Colorado, 1896-1901. He also taught Art History and Library Science classes.

Albert Frank Carter (1865-1949) served as Head Librarian, Professor of Library Science, Bibliography, and Administration, 1901-1906 & 1907-1933.
In 1911, he received an A.B. degree from the State Normal School of Colorado.
Carter's philosophy was "a library must provide information, inspiration and recreation." He enlarged the library's holdings from 10,000 to 85,000 volumes and oversaw the building of a separate library building in 1907 (later named Carter Hall in his honor).
